Being a BVS student includes achieving a high academic standard while participating in sports and extracurricular activities. In our perspective, a BVS student works hard to reach their goals with good attitude while also inspiring others. Many students, from elementary, middle and high school, participate in sport and academic competitions – both nationally and internationally – and often reach outstanding placements. In addition to this, BVS also promotes community service and as a result, many students are actively involved with helping the community or others. NHS and JNHS are  examples of this. The National Honors Society in High School has now reached around over 40 members, they’ve gotten so full that Ms.Ortega has asked for the assistance of other teachers. While also working hard and being dedicated to work, BVS students also maintain a great balance between school and personal life.

BVS students don’t just solely focus on academics but also in fun activities. Blue Valley has many traditions that evoke school spirit in and out of school, such as; family day, sports day, the Elementary Showcase, elementary concert and the first day for seniors. Additionally, thanks to the great student government council that is elected every year by our students, we also get to participate in countless activities during school hours and weekends; spirt week, family fun run, pajama day, etc.

Along with hard work in the final year – for non IB students – seniors experience a set of great celebrations.  Every semester, there is a new group of seniors and along with the title, comes the exciting task to choose a theme for your class and shirt color. This isn’t an easy process, every generation endures a huge division on ideas and opinions regarding these decisions – but in the end it gets done. The first day back to school the seniors decorate their cars and parade from another location into school. As two girls who have already completed this event, we can safely say that it is exhilarating. Spending time with classmates and friends is a wonderful way to kick off senior year. It’s exciting to wear your shirt for the first time and drive into school as a group.  The caravan is only the beginning. After entering the school, seniors are given whistles, hats and party glasses. With these decorations, we enter the gym to show the school our theme and shirts for the first time. In the gym, seniors are greeted with a comparsa that simply amplifies the thrilling celebration.

Furthermore, BVS is a school that offers a high end education guided by a strong moral compass while offering a balance between sciences and humanities in order to expand the students knowledge and introduce them to different approaches to learning. For students, Blue Valley wants to create life-long, independent learners. They want us to become the best versions of ourselves.

To conclude, Blue Valley is more than a school, it is a way of life that gathers high academic performance, social activities held by honors and student government body, as well as a unique Senior year experience.  Being a BVS alumni means you have culminated your school years with merit and pride, a pride that lasts a lifetime. This is our alma mater, the place where we “play, learn and grow”. BVS students don’t just solely focus on academics but also having fun. Blue Valley has many traditions that invoke school spirit in and out of school, such as; family day, sports day, the 5th grade musical, elementary concert – both currently suspended because of COVID – and the first day for seniors. Additionally, thanks to the great student government council that is elected every year by our students, we also get to participate in countless activities during school hours; spirt week, family fun run, pajama day, etc.
